I love a trench coat and jeans combination; it’s one of those outfits that just always works. On the days when I don’t know what to wear (which is most days, let’s be honest), this is the kind of outfit I always come back to, especially in the spring, summer and autumn months.
There’s just something about trench coat outfits with jeans that makes getting dressed feel easier. It’s simple, it’s effortless, but it still somehow looks like you’ve made an effort , even when you really haven’t.
What’s even better is how versatile it is. You can dress it up or down, switch up your shoes and tops, and still end up with a look that feels put together without trying too hard.
How to style a trench coat with jeans
Styling a trench coat with jeans is actually a lot simpler than it looks. It’s one of those outfits you can throw on when you don’t know what else to wear, and it still ends up looking put together. Once you’ve found a few combinations you like, it becomes something you’ll reach for again and again without really thinking about it.
- Straight-leg or relaxed or baggy jeans all work with a trench coat
- Keep your top simple; a t-shirt, knit or shirt always works
- Trainers, loafers or slip-ons are the easiest shoe options for a chic look
- If your trench coat is oversized, balance it out with more fitted pieces underneath
1. Trench coat with striped shirt & cargo jeans

This is one of those outfits that is really easy to throw together but still looks like you’ve made an effort. The striped shirt adds a bit of interest without being too much, and paired with wide-leg cargo jeans, it keeps everything feeling relaxed and on trend but still comfortable.
2. Trench coat with white tee and polka dot jeans

This is a slightly more styled take on the classic trench coat and jeans combination, but it still one of my favourites. The white t-shirt keeps it simple, while the printed polka dot jeans add a bit of interest and style.
Paired with loafers and a structured bag, it leans a little more put together, but it’s still the kind of outfit you could wear to go on a coffee date or to brunch with the girls. This is one of my favourites.
3. Trench coat with neutral jeans and brown tones

This is one of those outfits that gives ‘autumn vibes’ when the weather is not hot, but not cold either. The mix of neutral tones with the brown top and accessories just pulls everything together nicely, while the lighter jeans blend perfectly with the beige trench coat.
It’s still really easy to wear day-to-day, but it looks a bit more considered than a basic jeans and t-shirt outfit. Perfect if you want something simple, but slightly more elevated.
4. Trench coat with light-wash jeans and neutral tones

This outfit is more spring-ready, especially with the lighter wash jeans and softer neutral tones. It’s still really simple, but the small details like the belt and accessories make it feel a bit more chic.
The sandal heels dress it up slightly, but you could easily swap them for something flatter if you wanted to keep it more casual. It’s one of those outfits that works just as well for daytime as it does for something a bit more planned.
5. Trench coat with black clothes and neutral layers

This is a really clean, simple outfit that you can throw on without needing much effort. The black barrel leg jeans give it a slightly sharper feel, while the lighter tones on top keep everything balanced and easy to wear.
Paired with trainers, it keeps it casual for everyday wear, even with the smarter waistcoat. The overall look is a bit more polished than your usual jeans and t-shirt combination, but it’s cute and we love it!
6. Trench coat with white peplum shirt and blue jeans

This is one of those really classic outfits that you just can’t go wrong with. The white shirt and blue jeans combination is simple, but paired with a trench coat it instantly feels relaxed but classy.
It’s the kind of outfit you can rely on when you don’t want to overthink things, but still want to look like you’ve made an effort. Easy, timeless, and something you’ll probably end up wearing on repeat.
7. Trench coat with a denim shirt and black jeans

This outfit feels a bit more relaxed but still really put together. The denim shirt adds a bit of texture and makes it feel slightly different from your usual basics, while the black jeans keep everything looking clean and balanced.
Paired with loafers, it still has that slightly polished feel, but it’s the kind of outfit you could easily wear day-to-day without overthinking it.
Trench coat outfits with jeans are one of those combinations I always come back to. It’s simple, it works, and it makes getting dressed feel a lot easier on those days when you just don’t know what to wear.
Whether you keep it really casual or dress it up a bit, it’s one of those go-to outfits that never really lets you down.
