For those craving a slow, steady summer filled with purpose, meaning, and gentle growth, simple summer rituals can help you savour the season. They invite us to align with the softer pace of summer, offering moments of rest, joy, and gratitude in the warmth and light.
Summer is my favourite season. I love wearing shorts and sandals, grabbing iced coffees on hot days, and waking up early because the sun is streaming through my window. But is it just me, or does the season always seem to pass in a blur? Before we know it, we’re folding away our summer clothes and tucking the sun cream back into the cupboard for another year.
Each summer seems to come and go so quickly, and this year, I’ve promised myself I will slow down, stay present, and truly savour this season of sunshine. I want this to be a season of healing and personal growth, and I want that for you, too.
That’s why I’ve gathered these simple summer rituals to help you become more mindful and present, even within a busy life, so you can soak up every moment this season has to offer.
These simple summer ritual is something that you can incorporate into your everyday life and easily fits round our routine and complex lives.
Enjoy the early morning sunshine:
Early summer mornings are my favorite time of day. The sun is gentle, the air is cool, and there’s a quiet stillness that feels like an invitation to slow down before the day truly begins. It’s the sweet spot of summer—warm enough to enjoy the sunshine without melting in the heat.
Since the sunlight naturally wakes me up during these months, I tend to get up an hour earlier before work and use this time to sit on my balcony and gather my thoughts. Sometimes I’ll meditate or journal, and on days when I need softness over productivity, I’ll simply scroll through TikTok with my morning coffee in hand, enjoying the breeze.
If you can, take a book out into your garden or onto your balcony and let yourself soak up the pleasant morning air. You might prefer to listen to music or your favorite podcast, or simply sit quietly with your thoughts. Make yourself a tea, coffee, or an iced drink—whatever feels like a small pleasure to start your day.
Beginning the day in this gentle way sets the tone for everything that follows. It lifts my mood, helps me feel grounded, and even when challenges come up later, I find I can handle them with a little more patience and a little less frustration.

Get out in nature:
Many of us love being outside during the summer, and it’s worth making the most of the warm weather by heading into nature whenever you can. I didn’t fully appreciate how impactful spending time in nature could be until I started making it part of my routine. It’s incredibly grounding and has a gentle yet powerful effect on your overall well-being.
You don’t need to hike a mountain to feel these benefits. Simply spending time in a local park, walking through a nearby wooded area, or sitting under the trees can offer you a sense of calm. I find early mornings or late evenings to be the most peaceful times to head out, when the world feels quiet and the air is soft. Research from Mental Health.org even shows that people who feel more connected to nature tend to be happier and more likely to feel that their lives are worthwhile.
It’s so easy to fill our spare moments with binge-watching our favorite shows or scrolling endlessly on social media. (And I’m not judging— I do it too.) But if you can carve out even a small pocket of time to step outside, I promise you’ll notice the difference in how you feel.
Try creating a gentle routine of spending time in nature for your summer ritual, whether it’s in the morning, during your lunch break, or in the evening. It doesn’t have to be long or complicated—just enough to breathe deeply, look up at the sky, and let yourself slow down.

Adjust your skincare routine:
Looking after your skin is a form of self-care, and it can give us a much-needed confidence boost. But let’s be honest—it’s not always easy to find a skincare routine that actually works, especially if you struggle with skin issues. It often involves testing different products, working within your budget, and dealing with the frustration when something doesn’t work as you hoped.
Have you ever noticed how your skin changes with the seasons? In winter, my skin becomes much drier, while in summer, it’s oilier and more prone to breakouts. It’s like our skin has its own moods depending on the weather!
Sweating more, increased sun exposure, and the skin producing extra oil during the warmer months can all impact how our skin looks and feels. That’s why adjusting your skincare routine in summer can help keep breakouts at bay and support healthy, happy skin.
According to Beauty Bay, switching to lighter moisturisers, using a gel cleanser, and wearing an SPF that offers maximum protection can help your skin stay balanced during the summer months. It doesn’t have to be complicated—sometimes, it’s just about making small seasonal changes to give your skin what it needs.
Reflect and journal:
With summer representing joy and positivity it’s the perfect time to develop a journaling ritual. This can help you become the best version of yourself. It’s an opportunity to write thoughts down, release emotions, heal, and reflect on life goals. It’s great because you also have evidence of how much you have grown. I always read through my old journaling notes, and sometimes I am in disbelief of how much I have changed as a person or even cringe of the fact that I used to think a certain way, but ultimately it shows growth that will motivate you to keep being the best version of yourself.
