It’s the time of year when summer is coming to an end and autumn and winter slowly creeps in. The nights get darker faster and the temperature begins to drop. It’s time to put away our sandals and summer dresses and start making room for our winter wardrobe, however, some of us are not quite ready to give up summer just yet and are in search of the perfect holiday destination that can provide us with some winter sun.
Canary Islands
The Canary Islands are in the region of Spain and north of Africa, making them the perfect place for Brits to fly for some winter sun. It’s hot all year round, with average temperatures of 28℃ in August. Brits can still enjoy some sunshine if they wish to head off during the UK’s autumn and winter months, and they should expect to see temperatures of 24-18 ℃.
What makes the Canary Islands the perfect destination is that it is made up of 7 different islands, so you won’t find it difficult to find an island that meets your holiday needs! These are: Lanzarote, Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro.
With a flight time of just 4.30 mins from the UK, you don’t even have to travel far to bask in the sun whilst spinning a cocktail!
Morocco
Morocco (placed in North Africa) is a beautiful country that is rich in culture. It is known for its stunning architecture, breathtaking landscapes, and tasty cuisine, making it the perfect holiday destination for those looking for winter sun!
Leave plenty of room in your suitcase as you will not leave the country empty-handed, Morocco is famous for its Souks (market places) where you can buy a wide range of goods including, food, spices, perfumes, and crafts, amongst many other things.
You won’t be short of things to do in Morocco, whether it’s camel rides or quad biking in the Sahara desert, hiking the many beautiful mountains the country has to offer or just basking in the Moroccan sunshine.

As we head into winter of November and December temps are still around 20-22℃ in Morocco and fall to around 14-15℃ In January and February.
Dubai
Dubai has a reputation for all things glitzy and glam, so it’s no wonder this cosmopolitan country is a popular destination for Britons to escape to. It has stunning beaches and is perfect for those who love to shop, who like adventure and sightseeing, and who want to immerse themselves in the vibrant party scene.
Foodies won’t be disappointed either as Dubai‘s diverse population means it has cuisines to please everyone’s tastes pallets, which include Caribbean, Lebanese, Italian, American and Indian to name just a few.
Temperatures from November to February fall to around 18c-23℃, and there is plenty to do, like skydiving, watersports, sightseeing in places like the Burj Khalifa and Dubai fountains, exploring the Dubai Miracle Garden, sunbathing, shopping, and partying!
Egypt
If you are thinking of escaping for some winter sun, then you need to consider Egypt.
Flight times from the UK are between 4 ½ to 5 ½ hours, depending on which airport you fly to.
Expect to see temps of around 28-23℃ in October and November, dropping to around 19℃ In January, February and March.
Sharm el-Sheikh is a popular tourist destination, hosting amazing white sand beaches and beautiful hotels. Since Egypt is rich in culture, history and ancient wonders, you may want to visit Luxor to see the temples and tombs, Cairo to visit one of the most famous museums in the world – The Egyptian Museum, or head to Giza to see the famous Pyramids.
Cape Verde
Located on the west coast of Africa, Cape Verde is hot all year round and holidaymakers will see temperatures of around 24-27℃ in the winter months, it takes just 6 hours to fly to this stunning country from the UK.
There are several popular islands such as Sal where holidaymakers can enjoy stunning beaches, watersports, and tasty restaurants. Those who want to immerse themselves in the culture of Cape Verde can visit Santiago and those who love hiking will enjoy the Island of Santo Antao.
Turkey

Thailand

It is rich in culture, perfect for adventure, nightlife, and city or island vibes. The country is LGBTQ friendly and Thais are known for being extremely welcoming and friendly, what more could you want?
The south of Thailand is where you find beautiful islands and beaches consisting of luxury resorts and popular tourist destinations such as Phuket, Koh Samui, and Raliey Beach.
For those who want to escape the crowds and head to something more low-key, can head to Koh Lanta, Koh jum and Koh Kood.
The North of Thailand is home to some vibrant must-see cities like Chiang Mai, Pai and Chiang Rai and of course in the centre of Thailand is the capital Bangkok, which is one of the most visited cities in Southeast Asia and you won’t be short of things to do.
